Practiced mainly in India, mehndi, also known as henna, is the application of a temporary form of skin decoration. Henna dye is made of the powder of crushed henna plant leaves mixed with a mildly acidic liquid such as lemon juice or strong tea. It is typically applied to brides during Hindu weddings and also in special Hindu festivals. Henna tattoos are temporary, and depending upon location and care last about 10 days!
